If you have questions about these classes or how to place yourself, email Randal Bays.

Irish Harp - Eimear Coughlan will be teaching the music and techniques of the Irish harping tradition. The instrument itself (sometimes called the "Celtic harp") is different from the pedal harp used in classical music. Generally it will have 22-32 strings and no pedals. Here's a helpful article on Wikipedia.

Advanced/Intermediate - The actual content of the advanced classes is left up to the individual instructor, but you can expect to learn some traditional tunes and delve into the technical aspects of playing the harp.

Guidelines for placement in harp classes

Advanced/Intermediate - You should have mastered the basic skills of playing the Celtic harp, know where the notes are on the instrument and be able to play with a steady rhythm. You should have at least a few Irish traditional tunes that you can play with confidence. This is not a class for beginning players.
