FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE AWARDS

Other details
Applicants for all awards should be experienced and reasonably competent at playing Irish traditional music on one of the instruments we teach: Fiddle, Flute, Button accordion, Concertina (anglo), Irish tenor banjo, Guitar (Irish accompaniment), Uilleann Pipes
The scholarships and awards do not include:
Airfare/transportation to or from the camp
Costs for a parent or chaperone to attend
Students under 18 must have a parent or chaperone on campus. CIMW offers a special reduced rate for chaperones that includes meals and lodging at cost.
The application process is the same for both awards (see below)
The deadline for applying for all of the above awards is May 1, 2022
Note: These discounts will be awarded based on the applicant’s ability, experience and interest in Irish traditional music. Since Cascadia’s Mission Statement states our goal as “encouraging and supporting Irish traditional music in the Pacific Northwest”, preference will be given to applicants living in the Northwest.
How to Apply
1 - Please make a video of yourself playing a REEL and a JIG at moderate tempos
The tunes must be unaccompanied
The tunes should be reasonably well-known Irish traditional tunes
(For example, anything from the Foinn Seisún series of books and CDs would be good.)
For guitar accompaniment you can play along with an unaccompanied recording or a live musician. If you need help on this please email us and we’ll send recordings.
Don’t worry about making a high quality video, just shoot it with a cell phone or camcorder
You can upload the video directly to Dropbox from our application form.
2 - Complete our online application, below, where you will tell us about your interest in Irish traditional music and upload your audio or video.
3 - Don’t stress out too much about all this. :-) We’re just looking for people who have a strong interest in our music and have made some effort to learn it.
